This formula was originally created to improve results achieved from regular electrolysis by adding 10-20 molecular units of sodium hydroxide to the follicle shaft following the primary treatment session. As it turned out, many technicians discovered it could produce results as well as regular electrolysis all by itself.

The active ingredient in Topical Electrolysis® is NaOH. What makes it such a brilliant formula is that the sodium hydroxide is suspended in a non-reactive anhydrous liquid called Methyl-Isobutyl-Ketone (a harmless emulsifying solvent). Only after reacting with the high moisture content inside the empty follicle shaft does it become caustic(2).
